These are Set's two sets of terms — one for people using Set to find and book events, one for the venues and companies listing events on it. Which applies to you depends on which kind of account you have.
Part 1
These terms apply to anyone with a Set account used to browse, add favourites, or book a place at an event listed on Set (a "member", "you"). Creating an account, or continuing to use one, means you accept these terms. If you don't agree to them, please don't use Set.
Set ("Set", "we", "us") is a platform that lists small group activities and events, run by third-party venues and companies ("organisers") as well as Set itself, and lets members sign up to attend them.
You must be 18 or older to create an account or use Set in any way. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement. We may ask you to verify your age, and may suspend or remove any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone under 18.
You must provide accurate information when creating and maintaining your account (including your real name and date of birth) and keep it up to date. You're responsible for anything that happens under your account.
Some events are free; others have a price, shown before you book, which may include a separate booking fee on top of the organiser's own ticket price — capped at 20% of that ticket price, shown as its own line under the price on the event if there is one. Where an event has a minimum number of people needed to run, your booking may be confirmed immediately or placed on a waitlist depending on numbers at the time — this is shown clearly on the event before you commit.
You can book a spot for yourself, and — where the event allows it — reserve and pay for spots on behalf of friends you invite. If you do this, you're responsible for payment for those spots, and for making sure the people you invite are themselves 18 or older and willing to attend.
Paid events are processed securely through our payment provider, Stripe. By booking a paid event, you authorise us to charge your chosen payment method for the full amount shown (ticket price plus any booking fee) at the time of booking, or at the time your spot is confirmed if the event uses a waitlist. Set does not store your card details — Stripe handles and stores this on our behalf.
Event tickets are for a specific date and time, which under UK consumer law puts them outside the standard 14-day "cooling-off" cancellation right that applies to most online purchases (this is a recognised exemption for dated leisure bookings, not something Set has invented). Instead, our refund policy is:
To cancel, use the "Cancel my spot" option on the event in the app. If you're owed a refund it isn't able to process automatically, contact us and we'll sort it out.
A spot you book is personal to you (or, if you're booking on behalf of a friend, to the specific person you name). You must not sell, resell, transfer for payment, or otherwise deal in a Set booking for profit or gain, to anyone. Doing so is a breach of these terms and may result in that booking being cancelled without refund, and your account being suspended or removed.
Set exists to help people meet in person, so how members treat each other matters more here than on most apps. You agree to:
You can report or block another member directly in the app. We may investigate reports, and may warn, suspend, or permanently remove any account for behaviour that breaches these terms or puts other members at risk — at our reasonable discretion, and without always being able to share the details of a report against someone else.
To run the service, we collect and process personal data including your name, date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, contact details, location, profile information, and (where you choose to share it for a specific event) dietary or allergy information. We process this to operate your account, match and display you to other members and events, run bookings and payments, and keep the platform safe. Some information (like your exact address and phone number) is only ever shared with another member once you've both agreed to it.
We'll email you about things you've actually engaged with — for example, a booking confirmation, an event you've signed up to being cancelled or changed, or signups opening for an event you've registered interest in. These are service emails needed to run your account, not marketing, so they're not something you can opt out of individually while keeping your account — the same notifications apply to everyone. We won't send you general marketing (a newsletter, unrelated event promotions, and so on) without asking for your separate, explicit consent first.
This section is a summary, not the full picture — see our Privacy Policy for the complete detail on your data protection rights. If you have any question about your data, you can also contact us using the details below.
Set lists and facilitates bookings for events; most events are run by independent third-party organisers, not by Set itself. We take reasonable care choosing who we work with, but we can't guarantee the conduct of organisers, venues, or other members, or that any event will meet your expectations. To the extent permitted by law, Set isn't liable for the acts or omissions of organisers, venues, or other members, or for anything that happens at an event itself. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
We may update these terms from time to time — for significant changes, we'll let you know (for example, by email or an in-app notice) before they take effect. Continuing to use Set after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
Part 2
These terms apply to any venue, company, or individual with an organiser account used to list events on Set (an "organiser", "you"). Creating an organiser account, or continuing to use one, means you accept these terms, in addition to (not instead of) the member terms above, which also apply to you as a Set user.
You can create events through your organiser dashboard. Public events (shown on Set's general events list) need to be reviewed and approved by the Set team before they go live. Private events (shared only via a direct link) go live immediately, without separate review — you're responsible for making sure a private event still complies with these terms even though nobody checks it first.
You're responsible for the accuracy of everything in your listing — description, price, capacity, date, time, and location. You can't change an event's visibility (public or private) once it's created; if that needs to change, cancel it and create a new one instead.
You set the ticket price for your event. Set is permitted to add its own booking fee on top of that price — up to a maximum of 20% of the ticket price, and Set may choose not to add one at all. This is shown separately to attendees on the event before they book, and is Set's revenue, not yours. Payment from attendees is collected by Set through Set's own Stripe account, not paid to you directly.
Set will pay you separately, based on the confirmed number of attendees at your event, at the rate agreed between you and Set outside of this listing form (for example, in your onboarding conversation or a separate agreement). This is not automatically the same amount as the ticket price attendees paid. Payment will be made within 31 calendar days of the event taking place.
If you need to cancel an event you're running, do it through the "Cancel event" option in your dashboard as early as possible. Everyone who's registered interest, signed up, or is waitlisted will be notified automatically, and anyone who's paid is entitled to a full refund, including any booking fee — this is processed by Set. Repeatedly cancelling events at short notice may affect your ability to list future events.
You're responsible for:
Set is a booking and discovery platform — we don't run, staff, or supervise your event, and we're not a party to whatever happens at it.
Where Set shares attendee information with you for the purpose of running your event (for example, a headcount, dietary/allergy notes for a food event, or contact details once both sides have agreed to exchange them), you must only use that information for running that event, keep it secure, and not share, sell, or use it for any other purpose — including your own marketing — without the attendee's separate, explicit consent.
Events must be lawful, accurately described, and appropriate for a platform built around people meeting each other socially. We can reject or remove any event listing, at our reasonable discretion, that doesn't meet this bar.
You can stop listing events at any time. We may suspend or remove your organiser account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, including misuse of attendee data, repeated late cancellations, or events that put attendees at risk.
To the extent permitted by law, Set's liability to you in connection with your organiser account is limited to the fees actually paid to you by Set in the 3 months before the issue arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
We may update these terms from time to time — for significant changes, we'll let you know before they take effect. Continuing to list events after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
